You would like it

You would like it

A Poem by Danielle Browne
"

There is something that each line has in common. Comment if you understand what it is :-)

"

White and damp, the walls

were. My breath was cold

just like the bench. And

out there, daisies sprung

like I had never

seen. You would like it.

It was both cold and

heated. Grey and bold,
saturated, but

lovely. The crimson

curtains were fences

and the wardrobes were

the best hiding place.

Hide and seek was my

favourite game. In

the summer, I ate

all the gooseberries.

I always loved it.
My nostrils tensed from

the aromatic

dusty books and steps,

and my heart wandered

through the singing trees.

I just know you would

love it. From the brown

never ending boards,

to the rabbits in

the succulent bush.

The cigarette stained

windowsill, and the

unfinished kitchen,

it was ours, all ours.
