Believe

Believe

A Poem by Austin Fern
"

We all believe in something, but in order to reach true success, we need to believe in our selves.

"

Believe

I don’t clasp my hands in prayer

to ask for what man finds rare.

I don’t beg for answers to be laid bare,

instead, I work and do my fair share.

Like a beast, cold and isolated in its lair,

you Father just doesn't care.

A musical prodigy doesn't practice six hours a day,

to have its hard work passed somebody else’s way.

A successful author doesn't write

late into the night

to have to fight

for a place in the spotlight.

True success isn't reached through prayer.

True change doesn't happen by begging.

True knowledge isn't given.

Though, like a man trapped in perpetual night,

we need to believe we are heading towards light.

With the world in a never ending fight,

we need to believe we are right.

In order to succeed,

we need to believe.

Therefore, I choose to believe in myself.
