Prescribed to Your Eyes

Prescribed to Your Eyes

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

Your eyes are the cure

To my broken heart

When you speak

It keeps me

From falling apart

But if I die young

Bury me in your memories

Not in your misery

Let your smile shine

Just like the morning sun

Remember this dawn

In your heart I will never be gone

It’s where I was all along

I have so much I could say

But it would take more than one page

The fear won’t keep you away

Remember you are brave

And you have a special place

In my heart that keeps you safe

So stand tall, strong and not afraid

Bury me in the sunshine

I know you will cry

Please always remember the good times

Dream of me at night

I’ll never leave you alone

I’ll always be that sparkle in your eye

But someday you will have to let go

So lay your head on my chest

And let us cherish every breath

Every moment we have left

Let’s not fight

I don’t want anything to regret

Until I say goodbye

Let me see that smile

One last time

Before I close my eyes

I love you

Forever yours

And you are mine
