A Future Sunrise

A Future Sunrise

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

I’ve got a pocket fool of mistakes

So much I have left in regret

So much left to shameless hate

I need to redeem myself

Come to terms to what I have done

Release my demons and come undone

Sometimes you can’t find the sunrise

You’re just stuck in the dark

Trying to find a way through this life

Sometimes the answers are trapped in your heart

Waiting for the right time

My life has been mentally hard

Today I now see the sun shine

Today is a start for a new future

Many more obstacles to endure

I have overcome so much

Lost someone that I love

But won’t get to touch

This change is for you

I’m going to show you what daddy can do

Answers become clear

When I finally wipe away these tears

It’s time to stop living in fear

This year is my year

And I’ll never forget about you

You are always hear

So be my eyes

Guide me through this life

Help me go to the right paths

Steer me to my future

It’s just a matter of time

Before there is nothing that I can’t endure
