Rainbow

Rainbow

A Poem by Brandi K.
"

Loved ones, don’t despair, I feel your longing and pain. Looking at you through the colors.

"

Papa, don’t be sad.

I see you crying from this arc,

As I stand on red,

The color of the wagon

You pulled your daughter in.

Mother, please don’t weep,

As you lay in my bed,

I watch you from orange,

The color of my hair

That you braided so many times.

Sister, don’t grieve long,

I know you want to smile as you lay daisies.

My feet dangle from yellow,

The color if our sundresses

We wore on the Fourth of July.

My Friend, don’t lament.

When you gaze upon old pictures,

I am sliding down green,

The color if the hills

We raced and rolled on.

Brother, don’t be angry,

I hear you yell at the world,

I dance across blue,

The color of your eyes,

A deep shade we both share.

My love, don’t feel lonely,

I see you walking our usual path,

Following you from violet,

The color of the stone

In the sparkling ring you gave me.

Loved ones, don’t despair,

I feel your longing and pain.

Looking at you through the colors,

The colors that bring my memories,

Whenever you look to the sky.
