Take off the Mask

Take off the Mask

A Poem by Brandon Oliver Losier

Some say life is a stage, and everyone is always performing.

Reciting lines at the right time, trying to fit in just right.

If you could take off that mask and show me the real you, would i be surprised?

Or will I already know you, as a friend whose place is in my heart.

Or maybe will I find a liar who only desires to rip me apart.

Take off your mask, let me see. Are you, you? Are you something fake?

Or are you who you say you are, and I know you just the same?

Take off your mask, this isn't a stage.

It's you and me, not a recital.

We're humans, not characters in a perfect world.

This is the real me. Is that the real you?
