Ghoul

Ghoul

A Poem by Brenda Woods
"

Loosely based off the anime Tokyo Ghoul.

"
i'm hollow--
a gaping chasm of grief, despair
heart throbbing with an empty ache of sorrow
don't try to find me;
i can't even find myself
morals and beliefs drowned in this hell--
of the banshee cries,
an unrecognisable smile;
who am i when everything's changed inside?

keep your distance
keep your guard
deep within;
a monster howls

I really not Ikr this! But I may be a bit biased because I love Tomyo Ghoul and have just come from reading the latest manga chapter so... On to the actual review, I really love your writing style! The poem flows well and draws me in! I especially like the ending and the overall mood you convey! I feel that this is a perfect reflection on kaneki in TG and a great expression on what Sui Ishida wants to convey in his work, of how everyone has their monsters especially after life changing events!

Ah Ha! Brenda. Refreshing to see work about inner demons & away from never ending love gained, unrequited or lost! In every human a monster lurks. Brenda Woods is no exception! Keep up original work!

Got it. The last four lines tell me that he may Learn to like it.
Wow, this poem speaks to me on so many personal levels. It's written with such confidence and meaning yet kept short and simple, you make a nearly impossible task look easy! I agree with Katrina but my favourite lines are definately 'don't try to find me; I can't even find myself'. They are so complex and I really connect with the feeling that you don't know who you are. Excellent, vivid imagery makes me clearly picture the monster inside your 'gaping chasm of grief and despair'.Just an amazing and haunting masterpiece, best poem I've read in a long time.

This holds truth. Look at what the world has done to people. Heaven knows we didn't dig out our own soul. Very nice work! I really like it. "Don't try to find me; i can't even find myself" Amazing.. Keep Dreaming. ^^

KANEKI sorry i'm big on Tokyo Ghoul
Brilliant poem, by the way. It's the kind of thing I'd expect to be an opening for Tokyo Ghoul.

I particularly enjoyed this line "who am i when everything's changed inside?" Maybe it's because I relate to having thought such things about myself. But sometimes when everything changes, it's good. And sometimes the more ghoulish aspects of yourself are what makes you stronger. You have really lovely imagery, by the way. I just really felt this piece.
