A Love Note

A Love Note

A Poem by Brett Moore

My voice doesn't sound like it should
when I hear it out loud,
but I shed a tear when I wrote these words.
And if that doesn’t do you justice,
what will?

I’ve been writing words down
and throwing them away for so long
that I must have written the same thing twice by now.

You know, working for something worth it
hardly feels like work at all,
even if the task is taller than I am.

So I keep writing and trying and hoping
that the genius will visit me soon.

And when I finally write that monument
into existence, I hope you can see it
for the labor of love that it is.

A million clusters of words
and a million attempts to say
I love you.

Heartfelt and lovely.
Nicely done, poet!

I think this is beautiful - the sentiment succinctly stated throughout. I'm sure, when you're done, your words will rise like an obelisk in the eyes of her heart Beautiful!
