Love In Time

Love In Time

A Poem by Bri
"

Quick poem exploring my experience with emotional needs before, during, right after, and long after a serious long-term relationship.

"

I love you, why did you leave me?
Please just stay a little while
the bed here is cold without you
and I miss seeing your smile.

Your shoes aren’t at the door these days
and you don’t pick up your phone.
Some days it leaves me wondering
if we both are still alone.

Has someone else got your attention?
Do you have those same butterflies
that I was told were felt inside of you
when you first gazed into my eyes?

Your kisses were like magic,
And they aged just like fine wine.
You kissed me every day for years
I felt more love every time.

The time passes so slowly
yet so quickly, all at once.
It seems as though with it, we tire
of the things that we have loved.

Six times in just two years did we
part ways and break our deal.
But we both knew that loving others
meant allowing space to heal.

So if you must go, I understand
But of you, there is one thing I ask
That is that if you leave me now
Darling, this time do not come back.
