I Am NOT a F*g

I Am NOT a F*g

A Poem by Broken Molecules

Does the word f*g bother you?.

Should it be dropped from my vocabulary?.

I, myself,

Do not care

The words you use

Curiosity

For its real meaning?.

A bundle of twigs

Bound together

To fuel torches

For the witch trials

Burning witches on stakes

Burning homosexuals

With the other f*****s

Targeted

For a sole reason

My preference

Different from yours

Black and blue

Creeping on my skin

From bathroom assaults

F****t slipping off your tongue

An ignorant validation

Labeling me with words

Who haven’t reached my vocabulary

Shaming me

For something you don’t understand

But her best friends

Louis Vuitton and Michale Kors

And your greatest accessory

A G.B.F.

Gay Best Friend

Cause fabulous

Gains popularity

Push us down

While you reach for the top

Your slogan

I’m not homophobic

My best friend is gay

A bit of honesty

I AM NOT YOUR BEST FRIEND

I AM NOT YOUR BAG

I AM NOT A F*G

Acting innocent

But just as guilty

Without out a “f” bomb

At the end of the day

Make up off

Lights on

Staring at my reflection

Something stirring in me

The corners of my lips

Stretching wide with pride

My strength

Surpassing those

With no daily struggles

I AM NOT A BAG

I AM NOT A F*G

I AM PROUD

This hits close to home for me. As a person who grew up in a place where violent discrimination happens, the use of slurs as a positive terms from the people who used to use them against others is infuriating. If a man wants to call himself a f*g as a dissociation from masculine stereotype, cool. But a straight man or woman living as part of the structure that stigmatized Homosexuality in the first place? No thanks. I'm here for this. Well written, and especially emotionally connected considering it wasn't your experience.

This is a real "G" piece of work. I love how you are standing up for yourself and have pride for who you are. Wonderful work. N.
