In The Beats

In The Beats

A Poem by Brandy Alexander
"

Music. The Great of Love of my Life.

"

Have you ever made love to the sound waves?

Like the stations went topsy-turvy

And found just the right song to play

Sing it out now

Low and sweet

Like the rain on Palm Trees beat

Ratta-ta-ta Ratta-ta-ta

Have you even been devoured by words?

Like a poetic blade that cuts through your guts

‘Till it burns.

As the turntable turns

You’re in that moment

Lost in a serpentine dance

The melodic trance

The pain causes the bliss to enhance

Have you ever felt the spotlight from the car dome?

Your seat rattling above the wheels

But feeling like you're already home

In the passenger seat of that

Fifty Dollar

Pontiac

Moon tracers shine through the windshield crack…

Singing along to the track

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, i.. more..
