Memories of Stanhope

Somewhere

there is a road

that leads up a hill.

At the top of the hill

there might be houses

maybe, I'm not sure,

it was so long ago.

And at the foot of the hill

there is a white sign

with the word "love"

spelled L-U-V

with a red heart,

like on playing cards.

I go now to find

that sign,

that road,

that hill,

those houses.

But I don't know where,

it was so long ago,

if it ever was

at all.
