Look To God

Look To God

A Poem by Kaylee Andurs

It is often our choices that cause us the most sorrow.

Look to God
We lay on the ground with our backs to the God, who made us,
We let Satan blast us with his fire and burn us,
And when we felt we could take no more,
We looked up from the ground into the sky,
And stretched out our hands to the god who made us,
As he lifted us, his love dressed and soothed our wounds,
We found the strength of faith growing inside us,
Although we are weak and body failing,
We stumble in the darkness searching for his light,
Like lost lambs we listen for his calls in the night,
Like a man wants for water in the heat of the deserts sands,
And drinks but is thirsty still,
Are sins all confessing,
Are wounds need no dressing,
They are made whole and well.
Ours souls know discerning,
His plan we are learning,
His pathway we’ll know so well.
We bare the scares of wounds once suffered,
We are strong and stronger still,
Like a rock to carry forth the Lords will,
The fires still come,
And they still hurt us from time to time,
We bare them proudly,
And look to the God who made us,
We walk through them hand in hand with him.

This was a lovely poem!

"The fires still come,
And they still hurt us from time to time,
We bare them proudly,
And look to the God who made us,
We walk through them hand in hand with him."

God will always be with us, even when we don't see Him.

The only thing that irked me was the fact that you didn't capitalize "him" and "his" and "he" when referring to God. I mean, He's God, the least we can to is capitalize His Name. :)

Great poem!

I think this is absolutely beautiful, and it's very very true at the same time! It reminds me of a bible study done recently, where people wondered over the verse where God says "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver" (Malachi 3:3), so someone looked into it seriously and found that a silversmith holds the unrefined silver in the hottest parts of the flames and has to watch the entire time as the impurities melt away - hold it in too long, and it is ruined. God is the silversmith, and places us in the hottest fire to bring us out purer and stronger than before, and he knows exactly how long to leave us in for. :)
