The longing sets in

The longing sets in

A Poem by becca

I long for a sound

One that is distant but near; calling my name.

I’ve heard it a million times,

It swirls in my deepest chasms and swallows my heart whole.

The pain is music and the orchestra comes alive when it’s closer,

Closer…

I wish we were still closer.

I can sing and play to my heart’s content but no talent compares with a lack of your pair of ears

I had you, once

I’ll never forget it.

Though the clock has stopped and the well has run dry, I can’t help but stay in this empty prairie,

To hope that the crop will grow again and that the suffocating dust will stop swarming.

Maybe one day the well will run again and a very bounteous crop will take its place,

But your stance is strong, something I will never live up to.

I can’t change your mind and I will stay led on,

Until you realize,

I still love you.
