My Son

My Son

A Poem by A.Lee

My Son

You didn’t grow inside of me

I wasn’t there when you were born

But my heart has attached itself to yours

And my love for you has been sworn

I’ve watched you grow from baby to boy

Falling more in love every day

Those big and beautiful, golden eyes

Easily getting your way

You may not have my lips or nose

You may not have my smile

But I see you watch me all the day

Absorbing my quirks all the while

I love you no matter what you do

No matter where you choose to go

You walked right in and captured my heart

Just how much you’ll never know

People may say that we’re not the same

Our kinship has been said and done

But you called me ‘Mommy’ of your own accord

And you’ll always be my son

~for Seth~

A true mother is the one who stand with and share love with a child. When the child called you mother. He was honoring you. Most beautiful words is the words mother. A excellent poem. Poem is wonderful.

Seth is lucky to have you. In a world where so many children are starved of love and kindness, he's got an adoring mother to turn to for comfort. As always Cattie, your work is filled with emotion and real-world imagery. Everyone who reads it can relate on some level. Well done.

Cattie, such a beautiful reflection of devotion for a young lad, his fortune so paramount as he's enabled to have someone as loving and dedicated as you. From his eyes to his toes, his ability to coach everyone around him to bend to his will, the boy is an angel reborn on this earth to fall into your arms so that you can accompany him for this instantaneous flash known as a lifetime, so short an experience that it is.
You're a sparkling gem of light in prose, Cat. BZ

You know, you're also a Very pretty lady Miss Cattie; stunning!

A beautiful, heartfelt piece. No doubt children do not have to be "blood" to be your children. Very nice write here.

this is so real Cattie, it deservess my commendation. Parenting really has to do with the heart and not so much the blood thanks for reminding us. Well written. You went for the heart and won.

I am lots of things, but here you'd identify most with the writer and avid reader. I have three beautiful children. The oldest boy, Seth, passed last year after fighting a long battle with cancer. .. more..
