The Music

The Music

A Poem by A.Lee

Its raining here tonight

Ten thousand tiny beads of water

Pounding hard against my window

As they etch their perpetual tap, tap, tapping

Deep into my heart

Once I heard only beauty

In nature’s gentle rainy tune

As it hummed through pat, pat, pattering rain

And rocked me in its loving arms

We sang together this lovely song

Now there’s only nothing

The trees don’t whistle anymore

The rain makes random noise not music

As it drip, drip, drips through my leaky roof

And drowns me in its sorrow

The music is all gone

The calming quiet of nature’s song

Now fades away in the midnight showers

As they rata-tat-tat to no one’s ears

Because we’re too wrapped up in ourselves to hear...

But its raining here tonight

Ten thousand tiny beads of water

Pounding hard against my window

As they start their perpetual tap, tap, tapping

The music creeps into my heart

so sad when the same instruments played the same way -- carries a different sound -- i loved how you painted this picture so clear

Eh, interpetations are as varied as the four winds. This poem has five stanzas, each five lines long. No patterned rhyme. Nice flow, it speaks of the rain. And the rain is so fluid, so free. This was a beautiful poem.

It's really good. I guess it's all in how you interpret the meaning.

I absolutely adore this. I don't exactly know how to describe it, but the emotions that it runs through you are vivid and real. The flow was flawless, and the imagery was awesome. The message was completely relatable. Overall, an excellent piece. Into my library it goes.

Mmmmmmmmm - interpret how you wish is an excellent choice of words. There are so many different languages this poem speaks. It comes from a corner of your inner self somewhere - and it's simply (at the risk of sounding cliche) BEAUTIFUL!!!

I loved your write very much. It speaks how pain transforms our lives when it steps in. The beautiful aspect of the poem is it's flow... it comes deep from your heart and touches ours'. :) Another amusing thing about your poem is that although it is a prose, I never felt it to be out of tune.

Beautiful is the word!

Starts out beautiful, the rain being comforting then something dark creeps in, I believe its the person's dark emotions and the rain is no longer comforting but echoing the person's pain then at the end the music is starting to creep back in, the person is starting to come out of their dark place. That's what your poem spoke to me.

Beautiful :) I feel like this poem was someones way of letting go of a loved one. Perhaps they both liked sitting around on a rainy day and listening to the sound of the rain drops on the window. The person could be remembering those moments with the loved one that is now gone?

Either way- like i said before. Awesome stuff. :)

A beautiful piece of poetic prose. I interpret as loneliness
It is strange how the same sound means different things according to the circumstance you find your self in
