A Poem by A.Lee

Can a person be strong
Yet feel weak inside?
Can we fight to be seen
As we're trying to hide?

Crying tears of pain
Beneath brilliant smiles
Fading through the black
While we push through our trials

Can we live on the outside
As if everything's fine
Though inside we're dying
Just biding our time

Can a person be peaceful
While inside they go mad?
As they're turning in circles
Giving all that they have?

Can't decide who we are
Even if we could choose
Whether happy or sad
Either way we would lose

Can a person keep living
Holding on to both lives?
Now so used to their pain
Neither side of them thrives

All we can do is live one day at a time, stay strong and pray for the best. Very nice poem. And remember always to keep that chin up.

very well written, fantastic. i like the turning circles part, and these two stanzas;

"Crying tears of pain
Beneath brilliant smiles
Fading through the black
While we push through our trials

Can we live on the outside
As if everything's fine
Though inside we're dying
Just biding our time"

really well done!

Wow….
This philosophical narration….
I have no words to admire it…..
You have the power to see beyond what is visible….
I appreciate it…..

You describe inner conflict very well, the emotional hell of two sides seeming to battle it out.

Fantastic write. The struggle within. Putting on a face for the world and those around you while loathing everything. The last stanza, perfect rhetorical question.

you brought across the struggle within expertly~ throughout our lives we cultivate different sets of masks to wear for the world outside while within we struggle to integrate pieces of personas we have built for others~ this is what your poetic brought to the forefront of my thoughts~

A very powerful piece with a great meaning. And you can rhyme, something I'm not capable of doing what so ever (at least for the moment). Well done!
