Firefly

Why am I
Trapped alone in a darkened world
Left to feel
But never know relief from pain

Why do I
Embrace a life so full of sadness
While the light
Dances just beyond my grasp

When did I
Become unworthy of a friend
Someone to care
No matter how low I may be

And how can I
Convince myself that I should live
When all I see
Is everything that that's wrong with me

I am drowning
In a world where I don't belong
Where only sorrow
Comes to soothe the open wounds

A firefly
Trapped in this jar of my existence
I watched you smile
And leave me here to fade away
