To The One I Love When I Miss and Hate When I Have
When you aren't around me
I feel trapped in a closing, plastic bag
Trying to treat myself better
But always knowing how to escape
And how to stop the drag
I see you everywhere I go
Whether it is at the store
Or at the house of a friend
As you stare into my mind
Because you know you have the power
To make my pain end
You are a power that needs the heat of fire
But turns a loving heart cold
You have taken many lives
Without any apology given
To those both young and old
Then finally, I collapse under the pressure
And put you by my side
As if we were always friends
I take you out
And the 19 others will follow
As I give you "one last light"
Dear Nicotine, I ask why
Why have I been targeted
Since I was in high school
I ask why
Why have I been taught
That using you is cool
I demand you answer
Because with my life, you rule
I throw you to the side
Along with your friends
I weep softly, kicking myself
I know I have to stop
But you're already in my head
I pick you back up
And we make amends
