A Poem by Caitlin Lea

That celestial

man

who haunts

the moon

 is a survivor

of Cambrian

times

his face

 a melancholy

homoioteleuton

in tales

told round

orange flames

and under blue

canopies.

He is

central

in the aubergine

eyes of

God

whose lashes

blinked the

cornucopia

of the universe

the umbrella

of sky

the mountain

of endothermic

earth

into being.

The feverish

sun

the angry

opposite

to that white

orb-- a strong

magnet

to those

heavenly kumquats

that careen

 with raw

Fahrvergnügen.

Hands of Jesus

scarred

with love

scattered stars

into curious

eyes.

Indigenous

beings

cross themselves,

stand atop

precipices

to glimpse

what they call

fabulous

packing into

a universal

temple

where true

believers

are filtered

through the

liver

of reality.

"What's his

name, Daddy?

The man

whose face

is stuck

in the waning

moon?"

"Tyler."
