Getting Along

Getting Along

A Poem by nevershoutnever.

You and I, we,

never really got along.

I tried to see the

good inside you, where it all belongs.

Tripping and stumbling,

through and through,

I messed up badly,

taking you down too.

This hate we have here

is really nothing more

than a childish game

we all used to adore.

Turns out you want the same,

perhaps we aren't so different,

to be left alone

and finally out there.

Once I thought

it could truly be,

but not I've moved on

and can clearly see.

I'm not going to apologize,

for I've given this s**t up.

I'm sick to my stomach,

day after day,

and each time it's thanks to you

and your sick, little games.

My giving up doesn't classify me

as particularly lazy

or even someone sad and weak.

But maybe I'm just strong enough

to let this all go.
