As a Tune Loves the Waves

As a Tune Loves the Waves

A Poem by Carissa Faulk

I love you

as the waves love the moon

(you make me aim higher);

as the moon loves the sun

(you make me shine brighter);

as the sun loves summer

(you make me fight longer);

as summer loves a bird

(you bring me home again).

As a bird loves a tune

(you make me be better);

as a tune loves the waves

(you carry me farther).

As a single cricket

fills the night

with orchestral strains

so you make

every moment

so much more

than it

could

ever

be

(and me as well).
