The Other Side Of Tenderness

The Other Side Of Tenderness

A Poem by Carlton Carr

"
The other side of tenderness
is pure lust
from dust to dust we crawl
and w***e our souls for love

We call the odds and sometimes fall
but when the glance is right
we dance our dance on wings
and clutch at flesh all night

Life stings and pays us back
upon the rack of love we writhe
but only the heartless can survive
the other side of tenderness

this exudes the desperation of uncontrolled passion and behaviour of the desperate desire to be one, and the fatal guilt that follows. I like this very much - you capture it all in one word 'writhe'
