All I Want

I used to always know what I wanted but now I'm not so sure.

All I want is go back in time
Review my downfall once again
Ask why things are broken
See if the words can even be spoken

All I want is to fix this mess
Undo all the needless pain
Stop the falling apart at night
When there's nowhere left to hide

All I want is to move on and
Kill these childish thoughts
Smother them out with a bout of certainty
That I've gained in make believe

All I want is the motivation
To live my life and try my best
Show false courage to fight
In this battle of reality versus the dreams I have at night

All I want is for everything to change
For the foggy doubts to disappear
And reveal the truth that's so skilfully
Buried in the past


All I want is for nothing to change
For the mist to remain and
Cloud out the truth, so that
I can just go on pretending


All I want is...
Do I sound like I really know?
Since I've given up on everything

But the pen in my hand and the heart in my chest

I know the feeling. Sometimes you are unsure of your life. The only thing that stays steady is that pen and your heart. The love of writing is something that is unexplainable to those who do not understand. This is a great write. It shows all the uncertainty of everything, yet the one certainty at the end. Great job!
