Precious

Precious

A Poem by Chris Shaw

in his personal effects
a wallet
well-worn brown leather
ingrained with life

she hesitated
opened to find
inside with new notes
a name-band
the one placed on her tiny wrist
minutes after her birth

he had treasured it
for thirty nine years

she swallowed her sorrow
and in those moments
felt so precious,
so valued

Love this.
I've still got my daughters baby bracelet, 2 of her baby outfits, one being a LFC kit, all of my father's day cards and birthday cards from her plus notes and drawings she used to give me to take and read, look at when working.
