Blue Nude

Blue Nude

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Pablo Picasso 1902

"
Forlorn she sits for all to see,
a nude embracing both her knees.
Does she regress in time to find
a place of comfort, peace of mind
and feelings of security?

In mourning for a friend's demise,
his brush conveys his deepest thoughts.
On canvas caught in colour blue,
a single shade of lights and darks.
In blended textures, finest strokes,
he fails to cloak his misery.

Picasso's artwork screams out loud,
depression is the blackest cloud.
It blots out sunlight, brings despair
and traps its victims in a snare.

Superbly captured yourself Chris. Behind every painting, there is beauty and pain that the artist sees and feels, capturing all in a moment that which could span a lifetime. For people to think so much of his work that they are compelled to capture it themselves, is true artistry.
Beautiful.

You are welcome dear Chris.
Hi Chris, Very well crafted. Interesting. "He fails to cloak his misery" is your strongest line in my estimation. The word "cloak" compliments the internal rhyme of the word "strokes" at the end line of the preceding line. All in all a very well structured piece. Enjoyable. Well done! Earl

Gotta say Christine, much preferred your writing to the scribbled masterpiece(!!!) of ol' Pablo. Not a fan of art full stop, bit of a philistine :)
Hope you are well and watching the footie

Humm … very interesting poetical interpretation; loved this … Even though Picasso was overwhelmed with depression, he was still able to use it to his advantage and come up with a piece that is still admired by many art aficionados today! smile …. :-)
