Serenity

Serenity

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

More river musings from afloat

"
South westerly blows welcome breeze
to soothe all willow trees who bake
in August's scorching oven heat.

Across lake's blue I see them sway,
their leafy tease in quiet speak,
on deck I rest my soul replete.

As rippled waters hold a race
of little feathered boats that float
along with algae island's green.

No other place I'd rather be
umbrella shades me from the sun,
content am I till day is done.

When sunset steals the last of light,
when darkness brings the curtain down
and all the wild fowl say goodnight.

Ahh, better than lying on a sandy beach any day, especially if you wear suntan oil and the wind changes, turning you into a doughnut.
This had to be a lazy Sunday, floating the aches of the week away and readying you for another Monday.
Just don't float too far away Chris.

Ah - this write shows the right way to spend a hot day dear Chris - - I love the interchange of internal rhyming you use in this tribute to finding Serenity aboard a boat. With you in spirit at least..... Fay

Recalling better days of quietness and peace. This piece puts me in mind of days spent on the banks of the River Avon. This captures the idyllic setting that brings "Serenity'" to this worn mind. Thank you most heartedly. Have a precious week end, my friend.

Looks as though we'll be having a good one - Week end
Oh such pleasant surroundings. The beauty of the lake and the quietude. I picture sailboats instead of noisy motor boats enjoying the water. Sounds like you had a very restful day.

Take care - Dave

This makes me happy on so many levels:

"As rippled waters hold a race
of little feathered boats that float
along with algae island's green.

No other place I'd rather be
umbrella shades me from the sun,
content am I till day is done"

Lovely, simply lovely and inviting. Take me the next time you go to this spot,
yes, take me ...

Bravo, Christine!

I love being near the lake and the forest.
"No other place I'd rather be
umbrella shades me from the sun,
content am I till day is done."
The days of Summer. The blessing of the sun and time to relax the mind. Thank you dear Chris for sharing the amazing poetry.
