Haikus are a perfect example of how structure can force a writer to really be precise in word choice in order to capture the moment. This is a lovely glimpse … one that immediately evoked a memory of being along the water on the Blue Ridge Parkway, watching the sun turn the water into molten gold. Beautiful!

Your title stands out as much as your poem! I love how you start out with a playful taunt . . . so unusual in short poems like this. Usually haiku/senryu are static descriptions so I love how you inject playful dynamic sensations! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You are welcome dear Chris.
A perfect 17 syllables here. I have had the experience described by this haiku. The continuous sparkling of the sun on the water can be almost hypnotic. Nicely done.

No matter how minute the writeup is, it can show a giant picture with pinpoint detailing. It feels like the sunbeams sparkling on water are chaffing you to catch the sight if you can. Haha. Such a lovely piece.

This idea is why I got into that whole mountaineering thing. Climbing sucks, costs a fortune, and is inherently dangerous and terrifying to the extreme... but it's a feeling you can't find anywhere else when you get access to that part of nature in person, because you also gain access to a part of yourself you can't get access to normally. I think about my time in the military like that as well... life sucked at the time but it made me a better person at the end of the day, it was riches for my character.

This is a really important concept and I think it's getting lost on today's generation. Excellent work with this one, all around.
