A Gong For A Wrong

A Gong For A Wrong

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

A little rant from a tree lover.

"
Congratulations to our local council,
who have exceeded themselves by far.
I award a shiny gold star for your
level of sheer incompetence.

You have to be pretty dense I think
to destroy eight hundred saplings
without a thought, planted by
volunteers of a woodland trust.

Try as I must, I can't contemplate
how anyone could chop down
a flucking forest, each little tree
of five years standing.

In one almighty swoop, managing
to wipe out the equivalent of four
thousand years of tree growth
while doing routine clearance.

That has to be one of the best acts
of vandalism I have come across,
knocks spots of grafitti on the odd
wall or two which can be erased.

A case of they couldn't see the trees
for the nettles they were attempting to weed, so much for routine parks
maintenance.

Well, as you know Chris, as someone who has more than a passing acquaintance with the forrestry commission, i can very much flucking believe their levels of incompetence and beauroc... Bewroc... arse over tit levels of rules for rules sake... Or perhaps its just having to justify their own existence by thinking out loud, way too loudly, whilst others are present, whose own incompetence they dont want known, so they just agree with the flucking idiot, making more flucking idiots and less sense.
Add the woodland trust into the mix and now you have a flock of flucks.
I better shut up now, my boss may be reading this 😀

Chris - I'm obviously not fully aware of what the situation is BUT in my wildest imaginings i can't fathom a reasonable reason for slaughtering so many trees. I assume you are part of a group trying to see that such a travesty doesn't happen. Good luck to you.

Take care - Dave

These idiotic things can really get us riled but nowadays we realise that there is a more serious side of the matter. Hopefully there was some feedback to the council and a replanting. Is there nothing that isn't grist to your poetic mill?
All the best!

Chris, it seems incompetence travels “the pond.” If I thought one country would fair better I’d propose a trade or two. Alas, we’re led by global incompetents, and despite elections, they breed their own. Your “gong” is well placed... message and poetry.

It is amazing what people do. Those trees were making our world, a better place. Hard to understand the need to keep building. Even if the new housing isn't needed. I understand the poem. Once great Michigan forest was close to me. Now I must drive 20 miles north to find the forest. Thank you dear Chris for sharing your amazing words and thoughts.
