She said, He said

She said, He said

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Blame it on tv

"
i watched in total awe
as ice crystals grew in
fine slow motion footage

bare branches became
draped in winter filigree
a haunting breathless beauty

i gasped at this sheer loveliness
as pristine white layers disguised
dark stark fingers of bark

beckoning boney digits
a fantasy fairy land of coldness
intricate, delicate, perfection

"how can you convey in words
such creation", says i and he replied
without the blink of an eye

without hesitation, he said
with his own brand of sincerity
"don't ask, it all looks friggin freezing"

I had to laugh at the ending of this one, Chris. Winter can be beautiful to watch. The ice forms patterns on the windows and the icicles hang from the branches...truth is though, I would prefer to watch it in a painting because, yes, it is "friggin freezing!: LOL Good one, Chris. Lydi**

'She said, He said'
Christine Anne Shaw,
This poem was a true darling. I totally identified with the enjoyment, the loveliness and appreciation of every charming change of ice beauty. You conveyed it to my delight. Where I live we do not enjoy winter as you must but when we get a taste it is really special. The end of you poem is a great look at how another in the same vicinity feels totally different. 'frigging freezing.' Like my husband actually.
Sweet write Christine!

Hahahaha! Cut to the chase!!! 😀

I find winter wonderland scenes, even in my own neighbourhood, to be spectacular, and would have oohed and ahhed right along with you!!! Fairies live in the snow, I believe.

Then again, ‘he’ does have a point. 😇

That last line... that would would be me, Chris. You’ve painted a vivid winter scene made warm with your words. Then, there’s the other perspective. Thank goodness for poets like you, Chris.

Thanks for the smile gram :))
I didn't grasp what this poem was about in my first reading of it and I can't stand not understanding something so I went back and (key word) slowly read each line. Wow! the vision jumped out at me and I smiled! I understood and it was great! Wonderfully done! Thank you for opening my eyes to your beautiful cold wintry world! Can I get you a hot cup of tea or coffee? Hugs!

As a cook, I understand this completely. Try and create a perpetual sensation of taste when you are wearing black in over a 100 degrees.
