She said, He said

She said, He said

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Blame it on tv

"
i watched in total awe
as ice crystals grew in
fine slow motion footage

bare branches became
draped in winter filigree
a haunting breathless beauty

i gasped at this sheer loveliness
as pristine white layers disguised
dark stark fingers of bark

beckoning boney digits
a fantasy fairy land of coldness
intricate, delicate, perfection

"how can you convey in words
such creation", says i and he replied
without the blink of an eye

without hesitation, he said
with his own brand of sincerity
"don't ask, it all looks friggin freezing"

I had to laugh at the ending of this one, Chris. Winter can be beautiful to watch. The ice forms patterns on the windows and the icicles hang from the branches...truth is though, I would prefer to watch it in a painting because, yes, it is "friggin freezing!: LOL Good one, Chris. Lydi**

His reaction: a stark, visceral, interpretation of imagery.
Your perspective is, of course, profoundly poetic.
On second thought, let's give him a bit of credit for succinct, rundown-neighborhood
street poetry.
Elegantly entertaining work, good poetess!

I get the feeling you and I walking on a hike would not make ten feet before staring at something that most others would find mundane:) people would often tell me that I drive them crazy when on walks cause I would freeze in my tracks at the first errant cloud or snail that happened by:) LOL many times I would freeze to see the freeze on the tree branches I have the pictures to prove it if I could find them in my photo catalog that is:)

OOOh Chris - so sorry he didn't appreciate the beauty in the "freeze".

Well, sometimes opposites do complement each other. I'm sure while she was contemplating the winter's beauty, he was checking the car's antifreeze level. Really nice imagery in this one.

I must agree with him. The cold isn't that pretty unless you're Elsa and like everything frozen. I like white. Put it on top of a rolling breaker making its way to shore and I'll call it beautiful. This was a fun little he said/she said with an unexpected ending. Nice work.

It amazes me how differently two people can view the world around them. It’s like the glass half-empty or half-full. Stunning descriptions of winter’s beauty too. This is such a lovely writing with humour and wit, dear Chris.

One persons wonder is another persons confusion, and I'm confused. So are you the chalk or the cheese Chris?
There is nothing quite like hearing a harrumph when asking if they too see the beauty in such delicate form... It makes you seriously question the choices you made in life regarding the company you keep 😀
Love the beautifully described wonder and the clumsiness of the retort... And believe me, i know the look you drew him, ive seen it in every women I've ever known 😀
