Rises With The Sun

Rises With The Sun

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

( Day 7 of lockdown)

"
sleep filled eyes wake to warmth of
rose pink glow from ceiling to walls
.
old sol is doing his best to create
enticing hues to welcome new day
.
views from an angled window on
third floor finds skyscape of wonder
.
beyond garden boundaries ripe
strawberry sorbet melds to lilac
.
subdued baby blues embrace
splashes of bold molten gold leaf
.
heart enchanted, gift of sight prized
contentment and blessings realised

Damn...that strawberry sorbet and lilac line made me hungry and this piece made me hungry for more than just food. What a wonderful moment, we have to snatch them out of the air when we can, enjoying the miracles that are given to us every day like sight and the ability to fall in love with a sunny Sunday morning.Yay..this was amazing.

I guess that this is the morning we all aspire to awaken to Chris, lockdown or no.
If it doesn't happen for us we can always read your poem - that will be just as good.
Well done and with kind regards, Alan

Aloha Chris, the title drew me I’m so glad I came. This is pretty, tranquil, serene all the words that evoke that feeling of contentment. I love how delicately laid this is and you express with such grace a sense of gratitude for the world around us. In my absence my words feel clumsy but I leave my appreciation. Many Mahalo and Happy New Year x

That this one came about during a lockdown makes it all the more remarkable. Then again, sometimes a seeming frustration can bequeath a scene of beauty. That is apparently what has happened here, as the speaker becomes aware of a beautiful sunrise. The splash of colors imparts a sense of blessing and gratitude. We all would probably see more such scenes if we took time to behold and appreciate.

Beautifully expressed. I always feel attracted to the use of hues and colors in poems. Lockdown has surely given us somethings like counting our blessings and creative ways to wait for things to normalise.

A garden is freedom to me...nature a balm :) It can make the ultimate difference feeling suffocated or liberated in my opinion, this inspired me to add a tree to my view, I have plants and flowers but miss the colour of an autumn tree :) As always Chris, lovely imagery woven here...
