Solemnity

Solemnity

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(remembering all who have lost their lives through covid)

"
confetti petals
in shades of pale pink
settle on soft green

yesterday's sorrows
a sad parting of ways
feel each one fall

as they cascade
in a fountain of sorrow
souls departed

broken hearted
are many who grieve
silent thoughts in loss

I'm the kind of person who can easily blot out everything ugly going on in the world. But my one nagging thought has been of the covid death toll, day after day. It's a deadly world war grinding on for years & hardly anyone acknowledges this steady attrition is REAL PEOPLE LOSING REAL PEOPLE! That's why I'm very pleased to see you honor the dead with such a heartfelt spray of sensory appreciation (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

dearest Chris... to share someone's life is a Gift.
The essence remains like a Rainbow after the Rain.
Still waters run deep... but others are like a waterfall
flowing down and about. We each have a purpose in the beauty of Nature.
Be at Peace. gently, Pat

So light, so pretty, they seem so small. Each one added to the mass and the numbers grow and grow. Those small petals grow in size and seem to be overwhelming. The weight alone enough to keep you down. Hopefully, it will soon be over.
Take care - all is well, so far, here. Dave

a poignant statement and lovely soft, imagery and and chosen words to show us the grief, sadness we all feel for those lost to Covid. But it's the way you structure you words that makes it so real and empathetic.
Confetti petals fall as the sick are dying, "in a fountain of sorrow",soft and profound.
Take good care,
Betty
