Holed By The Sun

Holed By The Sun

A Poem by Chris Shaw

shafts of blinding brightest rays
break through disintegrating cloud
to gleam upon unsettled surf

bursting through blackened mass
holed with a gift of future promise
dusky sky stirs into spotlight action

angel waterfalls pour forth
liquid molten gold holds sail boats
in a loose embrace for safekeeping

upon choppy waters they dance to
inclement weather's moody tune
so small in a sea of vastness

in the vastness of a huge expanse
threatens ever threatening
searching with a menacing eye

reach out to grasp what's left
light is worth all saving when
darkness invades peaceful living

Hi Chris, another outstanding piece, the light is our hope and our life. I love the way you use the metaphor of the light in this wonderful piece of beautiful poetry. The light can ever penetrate the darkness in our lives, it gives faith, hope and life. I ever reach for the light. Such wonderful poetry, Chris.

Such beautiful breathtaking
words they're sad and happy,

And they always paint such
beauty in your poetry and I enjoy
reading your thoughts coming to
life.

In these moments of life
it seems sad and there's
so much anxiety for many.

There is still hope there
is light in the darkest moments
even depressing moments of
anxiety there is light,

And I see that light always
because God is always there
even in the darkness there
is light.

Excellent Chris and I am reminded of some of JMW Turner's Seascapes, with the light and shade and the vast chaotic Seas - very evocative and real.

This reminds me of a painting. I can see the composition so clearly. The light and the use of metaphor here is so clear and inspiring.

I can see the little boats on the vast sea and can relate it to human living. Dark skies can turn to stress. Those rays of sun sure feel good when we can get them.

Thank you Relic. Appreciate the review.

I believe you are showing us dark times, not just weather-related, but in general, there is unrest upon this earth, and the moody weather just reflects this burnt umber mood. We need the sun to shine on us every day to keep peace in our universe... when there is light, there is more joy. This could be an allegory for the conflict in the middle east and Afghanistan as well. Very well written Chris with so many angles to visualize.
Best,
B

It is so true that even the slimmest rays of sunlight can so much brighten our day. It is no wonder that ancient peoples worshipped the sun. You tell so much in the - Chris.
