Be Kind he said, be kind

Be Kind he said, be kind

A Poem by Chris Shaw

glory be for damaged things
for butterflies with broken wings
for birds that can not chirp or sing
on mornings when the sun
won't shine

and for that rose whose petals fell
upon the crazy paving's path
whose loveliness you
once did praise
don't let that memory slip away
with thoughts of tincture and
decay

or for the friends who broke your trust
like rust upon an iron chain
increasing with the falling rain
don't focus on the sorrow felt
but more upon the joy they gave

for all the hurts that wound your mind
whose marks have left behind a scar
recall the positives instead
regardless of the damage done
don't harbour all the tears he said

reach out to grasp a smiling sun
consideration is a plus
compassion in this world a must
be kind he said be kind

to say this is a masterpiece would be underrated, I don't know how You even managed to compose the first two verses, they are not only beautiful, they hold rare beauty that beauty where life's essence flows, perfect poem in these holy times... heavenly written from again such a wise elegant and fair Lady.

An inspiring poem on relationship went sour. Make lemonade from lemons, so to speak. Title and poem are wonderful. Be blessed.

you have a wonderful way with poetic words that weave interesting images!
i don't believe in having regrets, 'cos you make decisions in life with the information on hand, there's not always time to do fact-finding before making a decision, & i think age & life experience is also a factor.

Indeed. I offer my applause for this gem. There's so much sweet and gentle wisdom contained within your lines. I love the final stanza. It finishes up the poem quite nicely and ties it all together with a bow. Thank you for sharing this outstanding poem. F.

I would like the poem to end at s2. There's too much preaching in the rest. The first two stanzas say it all. You have to let the reader do some work, not serve it up on a platter.

Nice message in a time where it's common for people to act out their hardships. It takes too much energy to be nasty plus it makes for a tense environment when making the world a better place should always be the goal.
