Be Kind he said, be kind

Be Kind he said, be kind

A Poem by Chris Shaw

glory be for damaged things
for butterflies with broken wings
for birds that can not chirp or sing
on mornings when the sun
won't shine

and for that rose whose petals fell
upon the crazy paving's path
whose loveliness you
once did praise
don't let that memory slip away
with thoughts of tincture and
decay

or for the friends who broke your trust
like rust upon an iron chain
increasing with the falling rain
don't focus on the sorrow felt
but more upon the joy they gave

for all the hurts that wound your mind
whose marks have left behind a scar
recall the positives instead
regardless of the damage done
don't harbour all the tears he said

reach out to grasp a smiling sun
consideration is a plus
compassion in this world a must
be kind he said be kind

to say this is a masterpiece would be underrated, I don't know how You even managed to compose the first two verses, they are not only beautiful, they hold rare beauty that beauty where life's essence flows, perfect poem in these holy times... heavenly written from again such a wise elegant and fair Lady.

Hi Chris, another outstanding poem of emotion from your pen. I have had friends who have turned on me without any cause, to these people I still have fond memories. Maybe we just push the bad memories to the backs of our minds. This is a poem to lighten the day. May we always have good feelings for everyone and everything. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Hugs always....Mike.

Hello, Christine! :)
This is lovely poetry. The feeling of it flows smoothly and the words read rhythmically. And the message is kindness, which is as good as it gets. I imagine this poem could brighten anyone's mood. Thanks for sharing.

Love that last stanza so much, so truthful, if we all could just be kind to another we probably could love each other more.

This was a heartfelt piece on forgiveness and moving on. The parts that spoke of broken trust really moved me because I have had to endure so much disappointment in those I once believed in. It truly takes the virtue of grace to forgive profound wrongs in life. The kinds we could never forget which leave indelible scars on the heart. You have woven a strong emotive piece of poetry Chris. One I take to heart.
