echoes from the past
empty rooms weep in silence
a new broom sweeps clean

Kind of feels like this Senryu is related to your Rendezvous poem. You swept up the echos and found something more to write about in the pile of past. I wanted to attach the two since Senryu is about the foibles of mankind and they seemed relative to each other.

A very relatable poem for me, here. An old neighbour died quietly yesterday, the hearse took him away and today morning, I noticed someone sweeping his yard clean. "a new broom sweeps clean", beautifully expressed dear Chris.

I always love reading your poetry ❤
I think this works so well due to the diction choices. empty/silence echo the vowel sound; new/broom/sweeps/clean
these slant rhymes contribute to the musicality. Even the “s” sounds of echoes/past contribute. excellent choices all around

Sometimes those echoes resound. The silence heard is only in the mind. Echoes are swept away by a hope-filled tomorrow
A very thoughtful write, Chris.

Thank you Dave. Quite a sad situation. I appreciate your visit.

Again, I ask, where is the like or heart button on this here site!? This is poetry that definitely rides the top of my range of pilgrimage. The past weeping the silence and the broom sweeping... the almost sterile emptiness of cleaning... the heart and mind dances and bounces to and fro in the reading. This is magnificent Chris !

Sweeping the Cobwebs of yesterday where dust rose to higher realms of Enlightenment… we wonder why the clouds of doubt encompass our days. The Rays of Sunshine seem to bring Hope Eternal. Blessings of Colors in Amber Gold. tenderly, Pat

Your thoughts dear Weeping willow are appreciated. Many thank yous.

Chris
Sweeping is a lot like smoke from sage sticks for encouraging old energy to move on. And the rhythmic motion amplifies that intent. It becomes a meditative dance of soul cleansing.
Thank you for sharing this, Chris, it really resonates with me

A haunting little senryu with a clever ending. I live in an apartment complex and recently saw that a neighbor who lived in their place for years surprisingly moved out. I could only imagine the years of memories accumulated there in those rooms. And how fast it was cleaned out and ready to be rented within days. Nice piece Chris.
