Savoir Faire

Savoir Faire

A Poem by Chris Shaw

the sun on lakeside water
gleams on surface glass
you can not fail to notice
that light can smother dark
it sparkles and it spangles
and here is where i’ll stay
till every drop of golden
has rinsed all doubts away

You are welcome Chris.
I have no idea what Savoir Faire means but "light can smother dark" made me think ( once, darkness was all ....light came... darkness was defeated .... now, darkness is only shadow when light allows. )

"here is where i’ll stay
till every drop of golden
has rinsed all doubts away"

The translation I got from different sources is knowing what to do in awkward times and situations, like possessing social skills, talents and graces.

Frost warned us all that "Nothing Gold Can Stay". But then, neither can we. Maybe we should just enjoy what we have while we have it. It's nice to be suave and confident but, in my opinion, even better to be humble and understanding.

The best tonic is to sit quietly with mother nature, her healing powers excel everything else and she brings light even to the darkest places sometimes..especially when it is mirrored on a an already beautiful lake..

The speaker seems to be dealing with some problem by immersion in nature. I fully agree that light can smother dark, and so this is an effective way to chase the blues. Doesn't hurt to have a little medication on hand, though.
