Constant

Constant

A Poem by Chris Shaw

misty moon
hiding behind cloud moving
your skin revealing hues
from subdued to mesmerizing
viewed through the skylight
in the darkness of night
aloof and distant
yet constant in a lifetime
rock solid to me
in times of sorrow
or those joyful

A lovely way to describe the moon, Chris. Sort of like an old friend who we know will answer if we call but isn’t necessarily part of the everyday. The moods and shifts of the moon are mesmerizing indeed. How many faces it might wear in a single night as it moves up the sky. It is amazing how it can be something both overlooked and entrancing—maybe both in the same night as well. You’ve set a mood with your poem. I really enjoyed this.

I would be out for longer under the night sky but for the allergens that have cropped up after my first half century. Come to think of it, that may be my only half, none of our brood having ever passed a second ( not to my knowledge ). And now that her majesty has gone, it won’t matter if I did ( don’t think his majesty sends out letters to those that do live too a hundred ). *aside* I am grateful though for the partial view that the French windows provide, out of the balcony! Then your wonderful poem really comes to life in my experience. Thanks Chris,
Freds.

that which is "constant" provides an anchor for us - we can always turn to it no matter and know what to expect. nicely said.

One thing can be said with certainty about the moon: it's reliable. I can see how on calm, clear nights it can become an object of meditation.

A beautifully penned nocturnal write which pays tribute to the beautiful silver disk which blesses our evenings and our black velvet nights. Love the visual detail, alliteration and how we can always rely on Luna who remains constant in our lifetime. Seeing Luna through the skylight is a very beautiful experience, can see it in my mind as I read! An enchanting write, sublimely inked. Lovely work, Chris. Thank you for sharing...
