Sensing

Sensing

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

written after The Wind Chime Tree

"
It was almost as if
Solo knew

sensing the violence
of steel blade slicing
through soft flesh

she sat on her hind legs
beside the wind chime tree
her eyes fixed on mine
then on the moving mobiles
as they twisted and trembled
on bare branches
tinkling in winter cold

then in solidarity she joined in
whimpering across the valley
my dog whimpered for
a boy departed she had
never known

Solo, in the chimes, sensed your mood and the moment, Chris. I guess that's why dogs are our best friends :) ... another captivating write.

Bewitching, to say the least. Dark dark dark thoughts set against a simple backdrop. Evocative and moving Chris.

Wow. Hauntingly (is this a word?🤷‍♂️) devastating. I read it 3 times and each time the punch to the gut is harder and my air is whooshed out. Wow.
To have an impact like that is unique. Great work!

Dear Chris... we have the sensitivity to understand the compassion of a dog... when the Wind begins to sing with Birds on Wing. A young Boy needs a Soulmate to discover the Rivers running along the Path of Persuasion. gently, Pat
