A Poem by Toasty (Erin)

I'm broken, promise me you'll stop the hurting

This isn’t how it is suppose to be
You and I taking a break under the willow tree
By taking a break I mean our relationship, is taking a break
This hurts my chest because now I have nothing left in it
You took the last bit
You promised a few months
I can only promise you a few weeks
Before my heart gets too weak
Before I start to crumble
Like the walls you and I made
The future to lighten the past
This is something I can never get past
But I will try and wait
Wait until we meet under the willow tree
But for now I wait under this willow tree
A  few months seems like a two thousand years
But I am willing to wait, days, weeks, months, years
Because I’m not one to give up
I always found a way to lift you up
Even though my heart will be weak
And nights when I cannot sleep
I will always turn back to our past
The way I wanted our future to be
Maybe under this damn willow tree
Or maybe somewhere where we want to be
Somewhere just you and me
But for now we are on a “break”
I hope you know what’s a steak
My heart, the fragile heart in which I own
And you promised to love
Now cracks and fragments fall
All to leave something  you promised to keep
I miss the kisses on my cheek
Or the hugs that kept me warm
From the winter storms
You kept me safe
Now I’m stuck in winter’s path
You promised a few months
I hope I’m ok in a few months
Promise to come back
Promise you will
I know you’ll say yes
Because you don’t want to break me, anymore then you have to
But for now I’ll sit under this willow tree, my heart fragile and cold like glass
I’m waiting for you
I will always wait for you
