Gabriel

Gabriel

A Poem by Carla (trying to make every day count)
"

Gabriel.....lover or fighter.....or both...

"

Oh, Gabriel,

My Gabriel

Sent here to guide me

To save me from myself

How can you stop me

When I have stumbled so far?

You can not hold me back

Only let me make my way.

You fight the evil around me

To clear my path

There is no saving me.

You knew this when you came here

To love me was to let me fall

like you have fallen

my archangel

my love

The line "To love me was to let me fall" is gripping. I like the shape of the poem too. The last bit about Gabriel falling--was that in the movie? Because in Judeo-Christian mythology he wasn't one of the angels that fell, just wondering. I love it when movies or books inspire creativity--they leave you thinking about things that stay in your system for a while even after you've finished watching/reading it.

I agree with your previous reviewist Gabriel wasn't one of the fallen angels but he was the avenging angel so for the most part your poem does make sense. It's always wonderful when something else inspires us to write and I did enjoy this piece, you have a wonderful imagination. Thanks for entering my contest :)

Awe sometime heroes end up taking the fall when they seem pitted against the world... such a fantastic write.

Hey Carla, yeh this was quite clevely put together with the downward pointed arrow and all. You know me, I'm not much of a guy for poetry but this read quite smoothly and I liked it. Like Alice, I know Gabriel wasn't one of the fallen angels but perhaps this was something a little different, perhaps he 'fell' in love with you instead and as a result could no longer maintain his place in Heaven (almost like that dreadful City of Angels movie... gaah, how bad was that!!) either way, lol, this was an interesting piece. Cheers chick ;-)
