On the outside I'm whole

Complete

I smile with a wide grin

And walk with confidence

But look into my eyes

You will see

The broken pieces

My heart shattered

Trying to pull it together

My soul obliterated

Wondering if parts got lost

The broken pieces

Sometimes I feel them

Bouncing around inside

Sharp ones pinch my organs

And when I breathe

The edges remind me

That inside I'm a mess

The broken pieces

Like a puzzle

You never have time to finish

But I want my inside

To match the out
