Another life Wasted

Another life Wasted

A Poem by AaronFreitas
"

I had to write and get some things out... one of my grandfather's workers was found dead this morning... suicide

"

What could be so bad that you take your own life?

Not leaving a reason, tears fade into the night

You were only twenty years old so much life ahead

Now your family stands around asking why you’re dead

Always so happy, always carried a big smile

Living a life so simple, a life worth while

So what was it that pushed you over the edge?

Grab the gun, lift it up and put it to your head

BANG!!! Just like that you took your own life

Makes me appreciate my sanity, I thank God for life

The reasons are a mystery to those still alive. More than likely whatever bothered him festered over time and ate up all his thoughts. Depression is a horrible thing. A fried of mine committed suicide and to this day, no one can figure out why. From what I've heard, it consumes their thoughts in such a way all other thoughts including loved ones are deleted. Very scary and sad stuff. Good poem.

We cannot see what is going on in the inside of a human beings head. All we can do have the right people analyze data and chart probabilities. Unless a person is locked up and put on a suicide watch, if the person wants to die, he or she will make it happen.

The thought is both terrifying and perplexing. The mind is a wonderful and at time horrifying place to think of, but when you take into account other's trials and tribulations, you tend to think about just how sane and lucky you may be.

You know my friend... Sanity has little to do with people's attempt of suicide. Sure, there were, and sadly, but still there are people who end their life, because of some mental illness. To be honest with you, i tried killing myself... I do regret even thinking about it...but there are times, when people just snap. They can't take any more of it. Sometimes, emotions can take over your will, and make you do things that you normally would never try. I've been there, many times thinking that i should end it... all of it. Everything felt wrong, empty or full of hate or simply just carelesness. Mix up the right negative emotions and you'll get the combination. Anyways, even after being there, i can not say that i understand why people would do it. I can say, that it hurts to see anyone on the way to the end.

Things can happen so suddenly and without explanation. i'm sorry you had to experience this loss, but things happen for a reason. We all have our guardians, you know? Good write!

Thank you very much Emily :) I definitely have my guardian by my side :)
So strange as to how much people can and are able to hide behind a simple smile. I lost a friend to suicide about a year ago. I only hung out with him a few times, but he was a cool guy. I didn't know he died until a few months after it happened. I know I wasn't close to him, but I began crying about it and thinking about him and the times I shared with him. I'm sorry to hear about this and yes, suicide is one of the toughest things to deal with.

I love the flow of this poem although I think it does depict a fair amoount of naiivity and an immature nature the positive outlook is admirable however the lack of empathy shown here is inhumane and ignorant - very well done I like this a lot - ATC

yes this piece hits close to home... I wrote a poem called "Loss" when dealing with suicide in my family. I understand the healing process through artistic expression, and this write is heartfelt and well done my friend.
