Devil in Disguise

Devil in Disguise

A Poem by AaronFreitas
"

It's been so long... hope you guys like it.

"

I saw you all alone; I could feel your pain

So I tried to help you find your way

You closed your eyes and took my hand

And trusted that happiness wasn’t far ahead

For so long we stayed on track

Getting over fears, never looking back

Without ever noticing the simplest change

I saw your smile and could see no more pain

Pain has a strange way of going away

But evil is something you can never change

The more I learned the more I pulled away

I didn’t want your demons in my way

The damage was done; it was too late

The second I helped you I sealed my fate

Good intentions turned to mistakes

Mistakes that only demons can create

You are the evilest of all, devil in disguise

You burned my heart with suicidal cries

I was a fool that you used from the start

And it would be you that ripped life apart

Another night I sit alone with my fears

Typing away these words hiding my tears

God give me the strength I need for tonight

Give me the strength to live this life

Reminds me of something I read recently about drowning in good intention. Sometimes best to direct these sort of cases to the professionals. Sure you'll be blessed for your efforts though. Some people are very difficult to help. All that aside, this was a great poem. Story-line, rhyme, rhythm - all perfect. :)

I feel like this could say a person who tried to help me, but I know this struggle too, of course. Nice piece, great flow.

Such sadness carved into your poetic flesh by someone who can only be described as borderline personality disordered. Such pathos, well effected Aaron.

Thank you very much John :)
Hi

I like the way you described in metaphor the spirit inside the person that you gave a hand to.

Or do you think maybe that once the other person was happy then the spirit that had taken her down possessed her again.

And then that obscure spirit took over her because it wanted to take her away from you because you caused her happiness.

I really like the poem, Thank You for writing it.

Damn. Very impressive work, Aaron. We can all relate to the themes you have illustrated masterfully in this piece of writing.
Sometimes we go beyond our limits to help others and on occasion that help can go astray. It dampens our enthusiasm to trust and engage with others in the future.

A very inciteful read. Great work, Aaron.

I can relate to this very much. Life is full of unfairness and it takes a lot of will to let go and be grateful for other things. Trust is lost on people that take advantage of the giving. I wrote a few poems on my hurt caused by being to trusting. It helps to unleash the anger on paper!
Great write.

The sound and full words of regret. A very strong poem.

You can never change the past, but it's effected your future. You helped, but got nothing in return. Human kind and our vile and sometimes twisted ways has found meaning in your poetry in a very strong meaning. Love it:) plan on reading up on more of your work. Thank you for sharing
