Faint golden light from a lavender sun

scratched in charcoal sketches of life days

glass etchings and pottery spent with

the music of the Beatles lacing ribbons around us

oils draped on soul and spirit

black and blue

a word of praise for paint

and the warm sun

days of meandering halls with no direction

but that room

a haven from piercing shadows

colored in light tones of amber sunsets

saving the outcasts

embracing the strays...

Author's Note

A surreal dedication to my high school art teacher Mr. Brooks who helped save many aimless lives. Hope life has been as kind to him as he was to us... Don't think I would still be alive if not for that haven...

^^ I love art...sadly I couldn't take it while I was in high school but I have taken a good share of it in college and it helps express yourself and make you feel better...well to me anyway. It puts a smile on my face when I am done because I have accomplished something. Art can be very calming...yet it has it's frustrating moments lol without my ability to do art and writing I think I would be a very lonely person.

This is a beautiful and eloquently written tribute to someone special to you. I love how I can envision your profound admiration for your teacher and his classroom, and I love how you showed the power of art to help some of us out during painful times...

One of my teachers inspired me to take up writing as a hobby when he complimented my class compositions. There are so many types of teachers out there in the world, and the ones which help us for the better shall always be cherished in our hearts.

Lovely. My art teacher never inspired me like this. He was nasty and critical and had a sign hanging from the ceiling, above his desk that said..."your mother doesn't work here, clean up after yourself." Amber draws me in, came for the color...Stayed for the classic Craig Forman imagery.
