A WONDERLAND WITHIN

So many perceive only surfaces

only skin…

but she is a Wonderland within.

 

Chrysalis tea with a hatter’s cup

and more…

inside her live ten thousand doors.

 

Red queen, white queen shadowed

stormy cries…

she feeds me bread and butterflies.

 

A vast expanse of tranquil space

this etched ink…

dancing now through her folds of pink.       

 

We play in her gardens of delight

by roses red…

wildflowers make our untamed bed.

 

Drink me now and inhale us in

this frabjous day…

Sweet hookah in our minds will play.

LOVE IT! Love your playfulness & rhyming. Love your use of the mad hatter motif. I couldn't agree with you more, that too many poems address only the surface attributes of people, which is why I'm not a fan of love poems (often the worst).
