Careless days drifting softly

over my tongue like apricot honey,

sweet and slow on summer’s edge.

 

How the sun paints your cheeks

with a hint of rose-kissed blushes

and you dance; rhythm and rouge.

 

Rain can’t wash off your radiance;

no lipstick smeared, chalked cheeks,

just a scent of apple-orchard bouquets.

 

And me, dabbled in the shallow shade

where sometimes I’ll stop breathing

in wondered dreams wrapped in warm skin.

 

How the world melts away in a smile,

warmish-whispers dancing on wind;

I found hope, and hope has your eyes.

never expected such a superb turn in Your fourth verse, and then comes Your last verse to settle every emotion of Yours deep and movingly into our hearts, You took us in/with and through Your dream, from sensuality into the deeper parts of love, fabulous read for me, the last two verses takes this into another sublime level.

we catch visuals...we catch the scent of romance...we melt along with the words you present of love and hope...and the 4th stanza is especially strong with its image of stopping the breath in wondered dreams...wow on that one...wish i had written that stanza.

This has everything I love about romantic writing! And I don't even like romantic writing! Usually it's too general & seeming to follow a prescribed sound/structure. I love how specific you are, using imagery that awakens the reader's senses on all levels. This is what's missing in so many other romantic pieces . . . your words actually INFUSE me with sensations . . . I can FEEL what you're saying. I never realized how often this does NOT happen for me, when reading love poems. This is amazingly seductive, even tho it's not got a bit of sensuous nuance, but just the sensory impact is so stimulating, it makes me want to be all over this guy, this narrator who is melting me with adoration pure & sweet (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
