The embrace of morning...

The embrace of morning...

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

I walked until I saw the last star of the night…

"

I walked until I saw

the last star of the night…

Chill air soft-stroking my cheeks

breathing out misted musings…

Houses sound asleep

sighing for daybreak…

I stopped and stared up

at the star waiting

as the sun-blushed sky

kissed the dawn

with cherry lips…

And I wished

oh not a subtle whisper

but a shouting entreaty

with a heart aching

for its homeplace…

There up in that winter sky

holding on to twilight

the star smiled

knew its job was done…

I puckered up my cold lips

and blew

and watched

as the last star

flickered

winked

and fell asleep

into the embrace

of morning…

awe, this is beautiful!! Kissing the star good night as it blinked out with the sun rise! Thanks for the view of the sunrise!! I'm a moonrise watcher and star gazer most nights of the year; sunrises for me are rare though I should witness more of them for I might see critters I miss by sleeping during the morning hours. Thanks for sharing your write!! Enjoyed it much!!

This is so enigmatic and pristine! Every day your craft is growing to be impeccably beautiful! There is so much of soul and intensity to it, one almost feels he has lived the lines....this is surreal and divine, I loved the words to the core!

This is soulfully beautiful. I can tell you really love
watching nature because you describe the scenes so
well, dreamy.

I love these last lines: I puckered up my cold lips
and blew
and watched
as the last star

flickered
winked
and fell asleep
into the embrace
of morning…
I stopped and stared up
at the star waiting
as the sun-blushed sky
kissed the dawn
with cherry lips…
You describe things that most wouldn't even notice, or even how to describe it, but you do it so naturally.

An extremely beautiful piece of writing Craig delivered in impeccable free form poetic prose.

This is very nice, Craig. Beautiful, in fact. What I can't figure, though, is how you manage to brave the cold in order to view such heavenly phenomena.

Oh how lovely, this is wonderful. I love the descriptions, the gentleness of how you present things, giving details as though the reader is just waking or falling asleep. Magnificent! I loved the line ‘breathing out misted musings…’ this is very descriptive and wonderfully written, provoking the need to go out for early morning walks. A great place to find inspiration. Magical write!

You have chosen enchanting words that flow with amazing metaphors allowing a masterpiece to be painted in the minds eye. I feel I am immersed in this captivating write.
Each statement a beautiful symbol of creation that delves into the soul. I also love the beauty of the twilight, what a soothing release to end this outstanding prose. I thoroughly enjoyed this peaceful write. :-)
