Only Olive Green Eyes...

Only Olive Green Eyes...

A Poem by An owl on the moon

     Out my frosted window a red beam pierces the clouds as quilted, gray blankets cover the earth.  She is there, on the shore, her figure wrapped in the wisping gray.

     My window shrieks as it opens, and the sharpness of sea and salt fill my mind.  The circling birds swim the currents of air and cry to one another, as the whispering sea foam drapes the sandy shore.

     My heart ceases as she glances at me.  For a moment, I cease.

     The sand colored wood claws at my feet as I move toward the sea, and toward her piercing gaze.

This morning I breathe iced air,

And wander toward the waves.

For a moment I live without care;

a moment all my heart craves.

    The earth turns to reveal her lily face.  There is no longer ocean, only olive green eyes…

Wow, what magic! I love the sense of the universe dropping away in the face of the olive-eyed woman [literally!] I think this is something between a poem and a drabble/short story, and it has all the more richness n' strangeness for it. To me, it feels somehow more real than straight verse would.

The narrator's enthralled, so am I - well done! ^_^

Oh!!!!! Craig,I love this poem..nothing less than that..This floats on my senses like a dream.So breathtaking,so serene..one wants to be there watching you walk towards her.What makes me very happy here is that you could have gone on with this instead of stopping at, The earth turns to reveal her lily face. There is no longer ocean, only olive green eyes…yet you don't and that is why this simply stands out,cause you have chosen to express yourself in a few beautiful words.One just has to imagine your words here and it immediately passes on serenity,peace...lovely!!!!!

As always, my dearest friend, your words are full of emotions, full of vivid images. It's been a while since I've read your work (and I must apologise), but your talent never ceases to amaze me!!!!!

This morning I breathe iced air,

And wander toward the waves.

For a moment I live without care;

a moment all my heart craves.

This I think is divine !!

This piece of writing is beyond incredible. There is power in it that takes me elsewhere when I read it; you really seem to evoke the feeling one senses when they are confronted to the one person they desire more than anyone else. I felt it when I read your words. It's magical. The words you weave are like magic.

=) I love it. I love green eyes.

It's amazing how someone can make the rest of the world fall away into a blur of "else" that is no longer so important, isn't it?
Beautifully expressed, as always.

A lovely piece of writing, near poem, near prose, near magic. Your words are always so very gentle, your feelings expressed in an amazingly simple yet utterly sincere way.

The ending is superb .. and yet, could almost be a very special beginning ..

'There is no longer ocean, only olive green eyes…'
